Monsanto Stuck Facing Suit Over PCBs in Vermont High School (1)

Monsanto Co. and other companies must continue to face claims alleging that they knew of the health risks associated with PCBs but failed to warn customers, including students and teachers at a Vermont high school.

Burlington High School teachers, a former student, and other Vermont residents claimed they were exposed to polychlorinated biphenyls—chemicals that have been found to be toxic to humans and wildlife—when attending the school. The PCBs entered the school through paint, sealants, and other building materials, the plaintiffs alleged, causing reproductive issues, dizzy spells, and other health problems.
