This is going to twist and turn all afternoon, Watford have one back at St Mary’s. Ryan Porteous has halved Southampton’s lead, it’s now 2-1.

In League Two, Wrexham are now 3-0 up.

Ipswich are level! Massimo Luongo has the crucial goal, did you know he was once on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or?

Fleetwood have doubled their lead against Northamptonin the battle for League One survival. In League Two, Mansfield have equalised at MK Dons, this would mean Wrexham are promoted alongside Stockport if the scores stay as they are.

Brighton are starting to get into their groove at Turf Moor. Carlos Baleba has got hold of the midfield and Pascal Gross is pulling the strings to create a couple of dangerous openings. No goals yet though.

Wrexham have scored again, Paul Mullin putting them 2-0 up. In the Championship, Millwall have been pegged back with Yakou Meite scoring for Cardiff.

Southampton could benefit from the void of ruthlessness at the top of the Championship, they’re 2-0 up against Watford and Boro now lead at Portman Road thanks to Emmanuel Latte Lath!

Not a lot going on in Premier League right now. Burnley and Brighton very much feeling each other out, but the Seagulls have lost Pervis Estupinan to injury already. Igor is on in the Ecuadorian’s place.

In League Two, Stockport need a win to earn promotion, they lead Morecambe. MK Dons and Wrexham are also ahead against Manfield and Forest Green respectively.

Jeremy Boyce is getting physical via email:

We all agree, there is a “too big to go down” syndrome in the Premier League, which doesn’t stop plenty of clubs falling. But in a very much Newtonian sense of equals and opposites, is there a “too big to not go up syndrome” that has also afflicted those trying to reverse ferret their way back up. Leeds and Leicester are doing their best to prove the theory, leaving the door wide open for Einstein Ipswich to overturn the expert thinking with their pleasing brand of Quantum footie. Or will they ?

Oooft, this is big. The bottom of the Championship is a tasty place to be this afternoon. Bobby Thomas has put the ball in his own net to give Birmingham an early lead against playoff-chasing Coventry.

Millwall have put together a few results under watchful eye of Neil Harris and look good to retain their Championship. They’ve taken an early lead against Cardiff, elsewhere Hull are beating QPR.

Another big goal in League One, this time at the top of the table. Portsmouth have the first goal at the Toughsheet Community Stadium where a win over Bolton will secure the title. Abu Kamara has scored it!

Big goal for Fleetwood, they need a win to maintain any hopes of League One survival and Promise Omochere has them in front against Northampton.

More early goals, these across the EFL. Southampton are 1-0 up against Watford, Blackpool lead at Carlisle, AFC Wimbledon lead at Swindon and Notts County have an early advantage at Walsall.

Goal! Manchester City 1-0 Luton (Hashioka 2 OG)

Not the start Luton were looking for as Erling Haaland’s off-target effort hits defender Daiki Hashioka and goes in.

Richard is scared of the City bench:

That’s some bench City have. I reckon the nine of them could beat half the teams in the Premier League.

Ortega in goal; back three of Walker, Gomez and Ake; midfield of Bernando Silva, Rodri, Grealish and Foden, Bobb as false nine? It’s not bad is it?

Fitba preview from Simon McMahon:

In Scotland, a win at home to St. Mirren will see Celtic go four points clear of Rangers, but having played two games more. The battle for top six places is reaching its conclusion with the key games being Motherwell v Hibs and Aberdeen v Dundee.

In the Scottish Championship leaders Dundee United won 4-1 at Morton last night, so all eyes today will be on Kirkcaldy where second place Raith meet third place Partick. Should Raith drop points, United could effectively seal the title by beating Ayr at Tannadice next week. They don’t call it the business end of the season for nothing, do they?

Huge result in the Championship, struggling Blackburn have gone to Leeds and won. Sammie Szmodics (who else?) got the only goal. All eyes on Ipswich now, does anyone want to win the title?

Wolves make one change as Rayan Ait-Nouri doesn’t make the squad and Matheus Cunha starts. Hwang Hee-chan on the bench.

For Forest, Gio Reyna starts but Anthony Elanga is out and Morgan Gibbs-White is fit despite some concerns during the week.

Things of note in the City lineup, Kyle Walker is back on the bench after getting injured on England duty and he’s joined their by Phil Foden who has a knock.

Reece Burke is fit enough to start for Luton, Fred Onyedinma comes in for the Issa Kabore, who can’t play against his prent club and Luke Berry also starts.

Preamble

“I don’t want to go back to the Championship, and I know the lads don’t either.”

These were the words of Rob Edwards in his interview with Emma John ahead of Luton’s trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City, but today is probably one his side will have to write off in their pursuit of survival. The Hatters have been great value during their return to the top flight but a visit to the home of the champions is probably not what the doctor ordered at this stage of the season. City, fresh from playing out a 3-3 thriller at the Bernabeu, are motivated and in form.

Events at the City Ground will be closely monitored by Luton fans. Nottingham Forest, level on points with Edwards’ men, take on a Wolves side who have faltered lately under the weight of a lengthy injury list.

Elsewhere, Brighton will be aiming to keep their faint and fading European hopes alive by beating Burnley, while Brentford can take a step closer to safety with a win over Sheffield United.

In the Championship, Ipswich can go top of the table by ending a two-game winless run against Middlesbrough. Defeat at Portman Road would all but end any playoff hopes for Michael Carrick’s side.

At the other end of the table, Sheffield Wednesday travel to Stoke knowing a win would see them draw level with the Potters’ points tally and prolong the relegation dogfight. Elsewhere, fellow strugglers Huddersfield head to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City and Birmingham host Coventry. Millwall, who have daylight in the race to avoid the drop, take on Cardiff.

Portsmouth can win the League One title if they beat Bolton, while Fleetwood will join doomed Carlisle in League Two next season if they fail to beat Northampton and Burton win at Stevenage.

In the fourth tier, Stockport will seal promotion if they get a point or better against Morecambe.
