West Ham 0-2 Fulham: Pereira punishes Hammers

West Ham were punished by Andreas Pereira as Fulham won 2-0 to complete the league double over the Hammers for the first time in 58 years.

WATCH FULL REPLAY

Pereira scored in each half as the Hammers huffed and puffed but Fulham were more clinical in east London.

David Moyes side have now won just one of their last six games in the Premier League as they remain on 48 points and missed a big chance to overtake Manchester United in the race for sixth place.

Fulham secured their first win in four games to move on to 42 points and kept their faint hopes of qualifying for Europe alive.

Fulham remain one of the strangest teams in the league

On their day Marco Silva’s Fulham can beat teams 5-0. They can also lose 5-0. There isn’t much in-between. After putting in some woeful displays recently, especially the loss at Nottingham Forest, they beat West Ham comfortably and created so many chances. When Fulham are at their best they are ruthless, free-flowing and direct in attack and horrible to play against in midfield. All of that was on show on Sunday. Fulham are also the last team to beat Arsenal in the Premier League back at the end of 2023 and their inconsistency must drive Silva crazy. Still, they have an outside chance of surging towards Europe late in the season and have some big home games against Liverpool and Manchester City to come. The Cottagers could have a big say in the title race because they are so difficult to predict from one week to the next. When it clicks they can beat anyone. Watch out, Liverpool and Man City. Arsenal found out how strange Fulham can be to play against the hard way.

Pereira surely seals the win - West Ham 0-2 Fulham (72nd minute)

That is surely game, set, match. Pereira finishes. Big win for Fulham unless West Ham can launch an incredible late comeback.

After a good start from West Ham, Andreas Pereira finished calmly and Fulham had plenty of chances to make it 2-0. The only positive for West Ham is that it is only 1-0.

Iwobi fires just wide

Another glorious chance for Fulham and Iwobi has so much space but his side-footed effort across goal is wide of the far post.

Should be 2-0 to Fulham but Fabianski saves down low

A corner from the left is flicked towards goal by Muniz but Fabianski gets down low and somehow manages to stop the ball from squirming over the line. Big chance for Fulham.

Big mistakes from Mavropanos and Pereira pounces - West Ham 0-1 Fulham (9th minute)

Oh dear. Mavropanos gives the ball straight to Andreas Pereira, who can’t believe his luck, and it is an easy finish. That is a huge mistake from the West Ham defender who should have just cleared it out for a corner.

West Ham lineup

Fabianski; Coufal, Mavropanos, Aguerd, Emerson; Ward-Prowse, Alvarez; Kudus, Paqueta, Antonio; Ings

Fulham lineup

Fulham focus, team news

Joao Palhinha has been special for Fulham, and blossoming forward Rodrigo Muniz — just named Premier League Player of the Month — may be the answer to the post-Aleksandar Mitrovic center forward question. Also look for fullback Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson to impress across London.

OUT/QUESTIONABLE: No one.
