According to the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office:

Deputies responded at 7:08 p.m. Friday to Highway 61 to look out for a white Suburban that struck a patrol vehicle in Lee County, Iowa.

Deputies found the vehicle as it turned onto Skunk River Road from Highway 61 a short time later. Turner, the driver, reversed the vehicle into a patrol vehicle and struck it as deputies got closer.

He then took off west on Skunk River Road towards Augusta.

Deputies followed the vehicle through Augusta and then east on Highway 16. Law enforcement set up spike strips in the vehicle’s path near Highway 16 and Highway 61.

Turner continued to drive recklessly with flattened tires headed north on Highway 61. The vehicle eventually crashed into the ditch on Summer at Old Highway 61.

Turner ran from the car and was quickly arrested by law enforcement. He was taken to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries suffered in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

Burlington and West Burlington police assisted in Turner’s arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.
