I.C.Stars, a nonprofit that includes a 16-week tech boot camp, is teaching low-income individuals essential tech skills. Executive director Shamika Hogan explains how the program's focus on empowering those without a bachelor's degree, offering a path for career advancement."For individuals in traditional jobs, such as manufacturing or retail, seeking to upscale and enter the technology sector, we're here to provide that opportunity," says Hogan. Founded in Chicago 25 years ago, the nonprofit recently received a generous $5 million donation from Mackenzie Scott, which helped the organization expand to Kansas City. The upcoming boot camp begins in September, and interested individuals can sign up at ICStars.org.
