Director Warren Trevelyan-Jones and the Choir of St James celebrate a year of music from the liturgical calendar, music performing several of the great motets of the Tudor Era.
The program explores the themes of Birth, Suffering and Death, and Eternal Life with works from the Advent, Lent and Easter seasons. Masterpieces by Thomas Tallis and William Byrd are interspersed by modern settings of poetry reflecting the moods of the liturgical works. Australian composers Heather Percey and Owen Elsley join with Tavener and Vaughan Williams for a beautiful concert of music ranging from deep pathos to great compassion and joy.
