Located close to Keyworth and the A46, the peaceful village of Stanton-on-the-Wolds has been named as the poshest place to live in Nottinghamshire. The Telegraph has revealed the 48 poshest places in Britain to live for 2024, and the village has made it onto the list, knocking down Colston Bassett, which had been the poshest Nottinghamshire village in 2022 and 2023.

Stanton-on-the-Wolds is surrounded by picturesque countryside, and The Telegraph has shared that its posh appeal is due to the village being home to an award-winning golf course, the Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club, which is recognised as one of the best in the UK.

At the heart of the village is the Grade II listed church, All Saints Church, which dates back to the 11th Century, and the local primary school is rated 'Good' by Ofsted. But what's it like in the words of people who live there?

Retired Dennis Jones, 76, said: "We've lived here for 10 years. You see these surveys and every year there's about 25 best places to live in Britain, so you have to take it with a pinch of salt. We lived in Bridgford before here in a large house and wanted to move somewhere smaller out in the countryside, and it's just a lovely place to live, it has nice people and good links into Nottingham."

He added that the village has "a lovely golf course and a nice setting", and if they need anything Keyworth is not far away. A 48-year-old resident who did not wish to be named said: "We've been here for several years now, we just liked the village and were looking to move.

"It's a lovely place. There's a good community feel in Stanton, but it's like any other small village."

Mike Winson, 78, who worked as an optician for more than 40 years in Keyworth, said it was "surprising" to find out Stanton was the poshest place in the county.

"It's nice to have the golf course so nearby, it's over 100 years old. I usually go two times a week, weather depending. We have only been here about three and a half years, but were in Keyworth before. You have Stanton here and the other half of Stanton is the other side of Melton Road, we are separated."

Similarly, a woman in her 90s, who did not wish to be named, was also surprised to learn of the findings. She said: "I've lived here 30 years, there are nice little walks and I have the dog so I do a lot of walking.

"It's very surprising as I don't think it is now with all these houses, I'm more of a rural girl. I think it's changed a lot over the years."

She continued: "There used to be a good sense of community but it's all falling apart since Covid and everyone who used to live in Stanton lived here their whole life, and now the houses are being sold. It is nice and all the people are all friendly, but it has changed a lot.

"All of these houses here are being rebuilt, it's no longer a country lane, I call it an urban highway."
