#1 Great Bridge 4, Nansemond River 1

Cole Cinnamond improved to 3-0 on the season, recording nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings for Great Bridge. Adam Blackstone contributed a solo home run. Kaleb Lashley and Andrew Griffin each had two hits.

Lakeland 4, #4 Western Branch 1

Landon Patton threw a complete game for Lakeland, allowing only one hit. Carson Brinkley and Ben Griffin each contributed two hits to Lakeland’s offense.

#5 Greenbrier Christian 6, Atlantic Shores 1

Brayden Pendleton allowed only one hit over six innings and struck out nine batters for Greenbrier Christian. Jonathan Ashe and Jack Bonney each hit a home run for the Gators (12-1).

 #6 Grassfield 9, Indian River 4

Matt Sabale delivered a strong performance, giving up only one earned run over six innings to lead Grassfield to a road victory. Bradley Zayac and Giacomo Franco both contributed two hits for the Grizzlies.

#7 First Colonial 8, #12 Norfolk Academy 0

Joey Karpovich had a standout performance with two hits, including a grand slam. Wes Stubbe also had two hits. Aiden Parker pitched six innings to earn the win for the Patriots.

#8 Bethel 5, Kecoughtan 0

Cayden Ochsenfeld pitched a remarkable no-hitter, recording 19 strikeouts for the Bruins (7-1). He was 2 for 4 at bat, while Liam Ochsenfeld was 2 for 2 and Zahir Williams was 2 for 3.

#9 Maury 7, Granby 4

Brycen Hamilton (4-0) pitched a complete game for the Commodores, tallying nine strikeouts.

#11 Gloucester 9, #13 Menchville 1

Austin Shackelford pitched a complete game for the Dukes in a clash of Peninsula District powers.

Eastern District

Churchland 16, Norcom 0

Three pitchers combined for a no-hitter, and Daniel Sellers led the Truckers’ offense with three hits.

Norview 11, Manor 1

Winner Nyland Billups struck out seven and walked one in five innings for the Pilots (2-6), giving up one run. Malaki LittleJohn drove in four runs on two hits. Chris Alcantara and Donavin Fitzpatrick increased their stolen-base totals to 11 for the season; the team has 55.  The Mustangs’ Ethan Evans was the losing pitcher.

Southeastern District

Deep Creek 14, King’s Fork 1

Jose Ruiz belted a three-run home run in the top of the first inning for Deep Creek. Brysen Harrison went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a stolen base, while Drew Meppelink had two RBIs, also going 2 for 3. Bret Gilmore (2-0) struck out nine in five innings.

Hickory 5, Oscar Smith 2

Brady Dekker and Keaton Hanbury had two hits apiece for the Hawks, who scored three runs in the second inning and two in the seventh. The Tigers scored twice in the second inning.

Private schools

Norfolk Collegiate 6, Peninsula Catholic 3

Charlie Crenshaw scored two runs and provided the go-ahead RBI for the Oaks. Ronnie Boone earned the win in relief and contributed two RBIs. Eighth-grade pitcher Colin Lindale delivered 5 1/3 solid innings of three-run ball to start the game for the Oaks. Aidan Casey took the loss.

Chase Hartford struck out 10 and pitched a five-inning no-hitter.

#2 Grassfield 5, Indian River 0 (DH)

Braelyn Bailey struck out six in a five-inning no-hitter, and Mya Davis contributed a home run for the Grizzlies. Hartford and Mackenzie German both recorded a double and a single.

#4 Hickory 15, Oscar Smith 2

Winning pitcher Emily Miller (3-1) smashed her seventh home run of the season, a grand slam in the first inning. Riley Britt also had a strong performance with two hits and three RBIs.

#5 Greenbrier Christian 17, Atlantic Shores 2

Maleah Hinkens and Peyton Moran combined for five hits and six RBIs. Haleigh Murphy had an outstanding performance with nine strikeouts.

#6 Granby 21, Maury 0

The Comets collected 22 hits. Destiny Harris led the way with two home runs and seven RBIs. Pitcher Kyrsten Wells (3-0) got the victory.

Tabb 3, #8 Poquoson 1

Tigers pitcher Mika Hilburger allowed only three hits. She also contributed offensively, going 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Lola Good doubled and scored for the Tigers, who made the most of four hits. The Islanders’ AJ Smith had a double and an RBI.

#12 Deep Creek 11, King’s Fork 0

Lily Jernigan, Rayna Klar and Izzy Shollenbarger each recorded two hits for the Hornets. Pitcher Sydney Seals improved to 6-1-1.

#14 Great Bridge 11, Nansemond River 1

Cassie Kleier and Bayly Yerigan both had three hits for the Wildcats. Hannah Ferrell contributed three RBIs. Jensyn Koonce secured the win for Great Bridge.

Peninsula District

Kecoughtan 21, Bethel 1

Ava McKeel drove in four runs on three hits for the Warriors. Alexis Bartlett had a stellar performance, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs and scoring three runs.

Private schools

Isle of Wight Academy 7, Fredericksburg Christian 3

Nora Pye struck out 10 and was 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI.

Norfolk Academy 21, Norfolk Christian 7

Mia Clarkson struck out seven batters for the Bulldogs. Elise Marie Standing and Sophie Pollio both hit doubles. Clarkson, Standing, Pollie, Adie Wood and Caroline Chastain all drove in multiple runs for Norfolk Academy.

Christian Robertson scored for the Monarchs in a Peninsula District game.

#9 First Colonial 8, Green Run 0

Luke Jones and Draven Johnson combined for the Patriots’ shutout win. Hayden Genzler netted two goals. Jair Farmer, Tanner Battafarano, Bryce Jones, Jais Johnson, Owen Newman and Drew Hartman also scored.

#14 Salem 6, Tallwood 0

Christian Lukert had two goals and Graem Sines recorded the shutout for the SunDevils (5-2). Joshua Lopez Cerrato, Uriel Gonzales Lozada, Zalig Gonzalez Lozada and Joshua Omanyani also scored.

Beach District

Landstown 4, Bayside 0

Daniel Bardera, Jace McSwain, Shaban Kilci and Jayson Chincuanco scored for the Eagles. Kamar Wilson had two assists and Nathan Lagbo one. Goalkeeper Noah Hawkins posted the shutout.

Southeastern District

Grassfield 7, Indian River 1

Tyler Wynne had two goals and two assists for the Grizzlies, as did Aiden Griffiths. Ben Mercer, Matthew Veltz and Colin Shine also scored. Alan Powell scored for the Braves.

Hickory 4, Oscar Smith 1

Caiden McHale scored two goals at the start of the second half to break a halftime tie and lead the Hawks.

Izzy Coshland scored three goals and Carter McMath netted two for the Patriots. Vicky Hannah had a goal and two assists, Ava Tucei had a goal and an assist, and Kayla Croghan scored.

#4 Norfolk Academy 11, Norfolk Christian 1

Maria Delyannis and Milla Avery had three goals apiece for the Bulldogs, and Sarah Bazil had a goal and three assists. Caroline Bishard scored for Norfolk Christian.

#6 Menchville 4, Gloucester 0

Rory Patchett and Alora Chappell each provided two assists for the Monarchs. Alyssa Ware, Caitlyn Hollis, Caylyn Candia and Lala Granger each scored a goal.

Kempsville 3, #8 Princess Anne 2

The Chiefs defeated the Cavaliers for the first time since 2013, according to Kempsville coach Camryn Terry. Kegan Cartwright netted a penalty kick in the first five minutes, and junior Payton Greeves scored on a free kick from 25 yards in the second half. Karleigh Edwards finished a cross from Jayla Teasley for the eventual winning goal with about 20 minutes left in the second half. All of those players are freshmen except Greeves, a junior captain.

#11 Western Branch 8, Lakeland 0

Madelynn Harmon and Jayda Sutton both had three goals and an assist for the Bruins. Keyah Prophete and Ryan Smith had a goal each. Reygan White and Amelia Cross combined for the shutout.

#13 Hickory 7, Oscar Smith 0

Kayleigh Belton and Katrina Cardiff both scored twice for the Hawks. Charlotte Petchel, Izzy Barrett and Samantha Woolley added a goal each. Barrett had two assists, while Zoe Cashman, Woolley and Belton had one each. Goalkeeper Abbie Hettinger earned a shutout.

Kecoughtan 3, #14 Bethel 2

The Warriors won, though Belma Tihic scored twice for the Bruins.

Landstown 1, Bayside 0

Hannah Sarino scored with an assist by Bri Laratta for the Eagles (4-2).

Ocean Lakes 3, Cox 2

Sam Grimes scored the first goal before Rylie Dillon assisted Sierra Edney’s goal, giving the Dolphins a 2-0 lead at halftime. Cox scored two goals, courtesy of Ava Rassool. But Peyton Staub scored the game-winner for Ocean Lakes.

Southeastern District

Deep Creek 7, King’s Fork 0

Grace Buck led the charge by scoring a hat trick. Malia Kincaid had two goals, and Riley Maynard and Emma Swarm had one apiece. Jordin Thresher registered a shutout.

Grassfield 10, Indian River 0

Sara Koch secured the shutout for Grassfield with two saves. Bella Franco stood out with a hat trick. Katie Dowd had two goals, and Addy Otte, Hanna Smith, Caylin Ream, Lexi Ivey and Ally Quiroz had a goal each. Quiroz had two assists, and Sydney Stull, Ivey, Smith and Kaelin Parris added one apiece.

Norfolk Collegiate 5, Peninsula Catholic 0

Maya Dixon scored a hat trick for the Oaks, with additional goals from Peyton Gallagher and Erin Sullivan. Chloe Booth and Clara Owings shared the shutout in goal.

Richie Martinez led the Marlins with three goals.

Cox 15, Ocean Lakes 2

Luke Rhoades and Jake Carnell each contributed three goals and one assist for Cox. Liam Waldron had two goals and two assists, Isaak Mihalap and Dom Ostrowski added two goals each, and Kole Gresham, Matt Goodman and Connor Warren scored one apiece.

Princess Anne 14, Kempsville 4

The Cavaliers handled the Chiefs.

First Colonial 18, Green Run 1

Addison Kiser led the Patriots with three goals and one assist. Safia Rahman had two goals and two assists, Emma Fletcher, Ella Cawdery and Sofia Mazzullo had two goals each, Kylan Carinui had a goal and three assists, and Isabella Williams had a goal and an assist. Amiya Thomas netted the Stallions’ goal.

Princess Anne 8, Kempsville 5

Roxanna Shiffler and Peyton Bemis both scored three goals for the Cavaliers, while Claire Holmes had two. Riley Auld had all five goals for the Chiefs.

Boys tennis

Bay Rivers District

Bruton 9, New Kent 0

The Panthers, last year’s state Class 2 runners-up, shut out the Trojans. Freshman Christoph Schweitzer fought back from 3-6, 1-4 down to win 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-5) and then paired with Max de Winter to win 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Jamestown 8, Lafayette 1

The Eagles won a neighborhood match of top-tier Bay Rivers teams.

Warhill 9, Smithfield 0

The Lions shut out the Packers to improve to 6-2.

York 5, Poquoson 4

The Falcons edged the Islanders.

Eastern District

Granby 8, Manor 1

The Comets had little trouble with the Mustangs.

Norview 9, Norcom 0

The Pilots shut out the Greyhounds.

Peninsula District

Kecoughtan 9, Warwick 0

The Warriors overcame the Raiders, losing more than two games in only one set.

Great Bridge 7, Nansemond River 2

The Wildcats (4-2) won their district opener as Brian Gibbons and Nate Becker, both in the starting lineup for the first time, won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.

Tyson Caines, Austin Hrisko, Jack Wynne, Teddy Cason and Jacob Magee won in singles for the Oaks. Luke Leftwich, at No. 5, registered the Knights’ victory.

Jamestown 8, Lafayette 1

The Eagles (4-1) won a neighborhood match of top-tier Bay Rivers teams.

Warhill 6, Smithfield 3

El Curtis-Zilius, Mary Drakes, Rachel Sneck and Skyler Hicks won in singles as the Lions outplayed the Packers. Hannah Hennigan and Delaney Hennigan joined Drakes and Hicks as doubles victors.

Beach District

Princess Anne 6, Landstown 3

The Cavaliers outplayed the Eagles.

Tallwood 7, Salem 2

Ariana Dail, Andria Esplana, Nora Sheta, Abby Donnelly and McKenna Townsley won in singles for Tallwood as the Lions handled the SunDevils.

Eastern District

Granby 9, Manor 0

First-time starters Syri Strong, Nyomi Gregory and Cheyenne Avery each earned wins.

Southeastern District

Deep Creek 6, King’s Fork 3

The Hornets moved past the Bulldogs as Eldana Tsegaye and Kendel Tanner won in singles and doubles for Deep Creek. No. 1 Nakari Blunt, No. 2 Leah Stewart and No. 6 Rain Chen won in singles for King’s Fork.

Catholic’s Xander Goboy shot a 3-under-par 33 for nine holes at Heron Ridge as the Crusaders outplayed the Oaks.
