A man accused of murdering his brother is to be tried again after a jury was unable to reach a verdict. Darren Steel is alleged to have beaten his older brother Martin to death at his sibling's flat in Clase, Swansea, in May 2023.

Darren Steel, aged 39, went on trial at Swansea Crown Court in February this year but jurors were unable to reach verdicts on charges of murder and a lesser alternative of manslaughter and were discharged after almost 12 hours of deliberations. At the conclusion of the trial prosecution barrister Carline Rees KC indicated a retrial would be sought and a date has now been set for November 25 this year.

The body of 48-year-old Martn Steel was found at this flat in Hill View Crescent May in Clase on May 20 last year. Following his death his family paid tribute to a "beloved son, father, grandfather, and nephew who will be greatly missed"..
