*** Dir: Pierre Salvadori With: Audrey Tautou, Gad Elmaleh Pretty young woman seeks rich old man with one foot in the grave - the seedy business of gold-digging is given a makeover in Pierre Salvadori's twinkly rom com. Audrey "Amelie" Tautou is Irene, a Riviera good-time girl with an eye on the bottom line. After mistaking a pauper (the excellent Gad Elmaleh) for a prince, she sets about educating him in her ways. Salvadori nods just enough to the downsides of the hustler's life to let you know that it's not all five-star suites and fun. Mostly he's content to keep the tone light, with misunderstandings, flirty dialogue and fast-paced physical comedy of the kind French farce does so well. Tautou is almost charming enough to make you forgive and forget The Da Vinci Code. Almost.
