Future Women announces B Corp Certification status

Training and education platform, FW (Future Women), has gained B Corp Certification status.

The announcement:

Education and training platform, FW (Future Women) has officially become a Certified B Corporation™.

FW founder and managing director Helen McCabe said the year-long process is a significant step in the evolution of the tech business which launched in 2018.

A B Corp certification signals a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability and transparency that range from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.

The social sustainability and performance standard is a holistic certification process that requires verification across many different levels in a business.

FW joins an exclusive club. Only 527 businesses with headquarters in Australia have attained B Corp certification.

“FW is evolving from an online community of professional women to a tech business providing education and training to men and women from a range of backgrounds and levels of experience,” Ms McCabe said.

“The online FW Jobs Academy which is supported by Governments to assist unemployed or underemployed women find work is an important part of our business and our mission.

“B Corp certification, which is a globally recognised certification, is an important step in building an additional layer of trust and confidence in for-profit businesses.”

Companies must document their positive impact using the B Impact Assessment tool, and undergo an independent verification process every three years to achieve and maintain certification. It ensures businesses measure profits and purpose.

FW provides training programs to men, women and gender diverse people in-person or online. It also has built a number of channels to communicate directly with its audience and is estimated to reach 1.8 million people a month.

However, the FW Jobs Academy, a successful pilot program, funded by the Federal Government has been significantly expanded in the past year.

“FW Jobs Academy is an innovative program achieving excellent results in helping hundreds of women and gender diverse people.

The number of B Corps globally has doubled in the past two years. Other Australian B Corp businesses include Marque Lawyers, Jurlique, Bassike, Living Edge and Right Lane Consulting.
