Buc-ee's coming to Ohio: Mayor shares status update on plans
Buc-ee's is getting one step closer to breaking ground on its first location in Ohio.
Mayor Jeff Gore said the city expects to see Buc-ee’s at their planning commission for their detailed development plan approvals from the city in June.
He said while that date can change, based on the information they have now, that's when the meeting would likely be.
Gore said the approval of the detailed development plan from the city would be the last step needed before they begin construction.
Buc-ee's is a chain of country stores and gas stations known for its world's cleanest bathrooms title, fresh food and friendly beaver mascot.
The Buc-ee's would be located off of I-70 near the State Route 235 intersection.
The Huber Heights Planning Commission met in September to discuss the details.
According to the proposal, the Buc-ee's location would employ 200 people.
Kentucky opened its first-ever Buc-ee's location last year in the city of Richmond at 1013 Buc-ee's Blvd.
Aside from Kentucky, Buc-ee's are typically located in Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
The store has amassed a fan club of thousands across the country. Residents in the area have even created a fan page for the store when it opens.
