Orioles and Red Sox lineups in series finale

BOSTON – The Orioles go for the sweep of the Red Sox tonight and they’ve got Jackson Holliday at second base again and batting ninth.

Manager Brandon Hyde is repeating another lineup after avoiding duplicates in 2023.

At 20 years and 128 days, Holliday last night became the fourth-youngest player in franchise history with an RBI in his debut, behind Brooks Robinson, Andy Etchebarren and Ron Hansen.

Jordan Westburg is the third baseman. Colton Cowser is in left field, with Austin Hays on the bench for all three games of the series.

Grayson Rodriguez is 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA and 1.054 WHIP in two starts covering 12 1/3 innings. He’s allowed only three runs and struck out 16.

Rodriguez has a 26.5 percent strikeout-to-walk rate that’s almost 10 percent higher than his 2023 mark of 16.9.

Rodriguez has made one career start against the Red Sox, at Fenway Park, and allowed two earned runs and four total with seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Orioles pitchers have struck out 110 batters, the most through 11 games in team history. The old record was 101 in 2018.

The Orioles are 11-0-4 in their last 15 series against the American League East, the longest stretch without a loss in club history.

Boston is starting right-hander Garrett Whitlock, who’s made two starts this season and allowed one run with 12 strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings.

This is Whitlock’s second career start and 12th appearance against the Orioles. He's allowed only four runs with four walks and 26 strikeouts in 24 innings.

Ryan Mountcastle is 3-for-9 against Whitlock but has struck out five times. Anthony Santander is 2-for-8 with a home run.

The Red Sox have lost six in a row at home. But they own the lowest starter ERA (1.42), their lowest ever through 12 games since 1920.
