Weekend Street & Bridge Closures affecting The Bronx, April 12-14

NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) has advised of the following street and bridge closures affecting The Bronx for the weekend April 12 to April 14. For weekend subway service updates, click here.

Manhattan/Bronx

Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River

Right lane in both directions will close Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and alternating center lane in either direction will close Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm through April 26, 2024, to facilitate rope cable cleaning, machinery repairs, and electrical conduit installation. Alternating sidewalk closures will be in effect.

 

Washington Bridge over the Harlem River (181 Street)

Single-lane Manhattan-bound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am through May 24, 2024, to facilitate installation of concrete barrier for the protected bike lane.

 

Madison Avenue Bridge over Harlem River

Single-lane at a time in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 6 am and Saturday from 10 pm to 7 am. Bronx-bound will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am and Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am. Manhattan-bound will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am and Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate testing and rehabilitation and will continue through April 12, 2024. Motorists are advised to use 145 Street Bridge as an alternate route.

 

Bronx

East 153rd Street between Bergen Avenue and 3rd Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 am to 4 pm Friday through 5/10/24 for concrete pours and material deliveries.

 

West 169th Street between Nelson Avenue and Shakespeare Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday through 5/4/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

East 176th Street between Anthony Avenue and East Tremont Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday through 4/14/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

East 177th Street between Grand Concourse and Morris Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday through 5/2/24 for new building construction.

 

East 176th Street between Belmont Avenue and Crotona Avenue

This street will be closed from 7 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday through 4/21/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

East 179th Street between Washington Avenue and Park Avenue East

This street will be closed from 9 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday through 4/24/24 for micro pile installation contract HBX180.

 

East 180th Street between Tiebout Avenue and Valentine Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday through 4/14/24 for facade work from boom lift in steel.

 

East 180th Street between Ryer Avenue and Anthony Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday through 4/17/24 for concrete pouring and booming operations.

 

East 228th Street between Lowerre Place and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday through 5/10/24 for mainline track repairs.

 

East 229th Street between Lowerre Place and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday through 5/10/24 for mainline track repairs.

 

East 230th Street between Lowerre Place and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday through 5/10/24 for mainline track repairs.

 

East 231st Street between Carpenter Avenue and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday through 5/10/24 for mainline track repairs.

 

Continental Avenue between East 194th Street and Westchester Avenue/NYCTA Subway

This street will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday through 4/30/24 to hoist and erect precast plank, precast stairs, structural steel and materials.

 

Honeywell Avenue between East 178th Street and East 179th Street

This street will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm through 4/25/24 for use of boom, knuckle boom and concrete pump to work on new building.

 

Gerard Avenue between East 150th Street and East 151st Street

This street will be closed from 9 am to 4 pm Friday through 4/22/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Monroe Avenue between East 173rd Street and East 174th Street

This street will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday through 4/13/24 for mobile crane operations for new 13 story building.

 

Weiher Court between 3rd Avenue and Washington Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday through 5/10/24 for concrete pouring and booming to erect new building.

 

Carter Avenue between East 176th Street and East Tremont Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday through 4/14/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Park Avenue between East 138th Street and East 135th Street

This street will be closed from 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday through 4/30/24 for all superstructure operations.

 

Park Avenue East between East 178th Street and East 179th Street

This street will be closed from 9 pm to 5 am Monday through Friday through 4/24/24 for micro pile installation contract HBX180.

 

Park Avenue East between East 180th Street and East 179th Street

This street will be closed from 9 pm to 5 am Monday through Friday through 4/24/24 for micro pile installation contract HBX180.

 

Park Avenue West between East 180th Street and East 179th Street

This street will be closed from 9 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday through 4/24/24 for micro pile installation contract HBX180.

 

Andrews Avenue between West 176th Street and West Tremont Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday and/or Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm through 4/30/24 for hoisting and pumping operations.

 

Andrews Avenue between Hall of Fame Terrace and West 183 Street

This street will be closed from 6 pm to 2 am Monday to Friday through 6/29/24 for boom truck for lifting materials to school building.

 

Morris Avenue between East Burnside Avenue and East 181st Street

This street will be closed from 9 am to 4 pm Friday through 4/16/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Whitlock Avenue between Aldus Street and East 165th Street

This street will be closed from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 8 am to 6 pm Saturday through 5/4/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Cruger Avenue between Sagamore Street and Bronxdale Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 am to 5 pm Friday through 6/28/24 for MTA contract C-35311 work zone and MP 6.

 

Villa Avenue between East 205th Street and Van Cortlandt Avenue East

This street will be closed from 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday through 5/12/24 for boom and knuckle boom to work on building.

 

Bush Street between Creston Avenue and Grand Concourse

This street will be closed from 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday through 4/17/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 9 am and single-lane in both directions will be closed from 9 am to 1 pm and 10 pm to 7 am next morning through May 10, 2024 to facilitate maintenance. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

 

Ward Avenue between Westchester Avenue and 172nd Street

This street will be closed from 5 am to 9 pm Saturday and Sunday through 4/14/24 for mainline track repairs.

 

Boynton Avenue between Westchester Avenue and 172nd Street

This street will be closed from 6 am to 4 pm Friday, and 5 am to 9 pm Saturday and Sunday through 4/14/24 for mainline track repairs.

 

Anthony Avenue between East 176th Street and East 175th Street

This street will be closed from 9 am to 4 pm Friday through 5/10/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Westchester Avenue Bridge between Water Place and Middletown Road

This street will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am weeknights through 4/30/24 for NYCDOT HBX1086 rehab of Westchester Avenue Bridge over Hutchinson River Parkway.

 

Westchester Avenue Bridge between Water Place and Ericson Place

Single-lane in each direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 6 am next morning to facilitate milling and paving on the bridge. At least one travel lane in each direction will remain open at all times. These closures will continue through April 26, 2024.

 

Hutchinson River Parkway in the vicinity of the Bronx and Pelham Parkway Bridge

Double-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, through April 19, 2024, to facilitate maintenance on the bridge.

 

Henry Hudson Parkway Bridge over Broadway

Northbound Broadway, in the vicinity of the bridge overpass, will be reduced to one travel lane and parking lane will be closed, through April 30, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation.

 

Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge

Double-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am through April 26, 2024, to facilitate bridge maintenance.

 

Hutchinson River Parkway Northbound between Exit 1B (East Tremont/Westchester Avenues) and Entrance ramp from Hutchinson River Parkway East

Single-lane northbound will close Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 11 pm to 3 pm next day, and Saturday from 11 pm to 2 pm next day. Double-lane northbound will close Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Westchester Avenue Bridge reconstruction and will continue through June 30, 2024.

 

Hutchinson River Parkway Southbound between Exit 1C (Pelham Parkway) and Entrance ramp from Westchester Avenue

Single-lane southbound will close Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 2 pm next day. Double-lane southbound will close Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Westchester Avenue Bridge reconstruction and will continue through June 30, 2024.

 

Hutchinson River Parkway in the vicinity of the Westchester Avenue Bridge

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am and double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 4 am, through April 26, 2024, to facilitate roadway light installation as part of the Westchester Avenue Bridge rehabilitation.

 

Garden Street between Grote Street and Crotona Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday through 4/14/24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Carroll Place between East 166th Street and McClellan Street

This street will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday through 4/14/24 for building inspection from boom truck.

 

Entrance Ramp from Southbound Sheridan Boulevard (NY-895) to Westbound Bruckner Expressway (I-278)

This ramp will be closed through December 24, 2024, to facilitate Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project. Trucks and buses are advised to use the exit ramp towards Edgewater Road/Hunts Point Market and follow the detour signs and use the Leggett Avenue entrance ramp to westbound Bruckner Expressway. Cars are advised to use the temporary exit ramp towards Whitlock Avenue and follow the detour signs to westbound Bruckner Expressway.

 

Grand Concourse Bridge over Metro North Railroad Hudson Line between 151 Street and 153 Street

Two lanes of traffic in both directions are shifted to the southbound lanes and structural steel repair work will continue through April 26, 2024, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm and 9 pm to 5 am next morning.

 

Major Deegan Expressway (northbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp north of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Full closure may occur Monday to Friday between 12 am and 5 am for demolition and erection of the superstructure.

 

Major Deegan Expressway (southbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp south of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Southbound exit ramp to 138 Street bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Friday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, Saturday from 11 pm to 9 am next morning, and Sunday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate water main connections.
