Police: Trio poses as women on dating apps, robs male victims

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — Two men and a juvenile are accused of posing as a woman on a dating site with the intent to rob the men they met up with.

A man on a dating site got quite a surprise when he thought he was going to meet a woman, but instead met Traverious Parham of Eads and Kameran Scruggs of Memphis.

There was also a juvenile at the scene who police say was involved.

“He set up a date on a dating site and three young men came to his residence and robbed him at gunpoint,” Hardeman County Sheriff, John Doolen said.

Doolen and his team responded to the call and he said it didn’t take long for him to figure out what was going on.

“We developed some suspects pretty quick and set up a little operation, and the operation turned out successful,” Doolen said.

Within a day, the alleged robbers set up another “date” at the Bolivar Inn Motel. But little did they know that what was supposed to be an unsuspecting victim was on to them.

Doolen told WREG his department made an account and arranged a date with the men.

When the trio arrived, police say they arrived with masks, hoodies, and guns. They all were taken into custody.

Parham and Scruggs are facing multiple charges, including aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm to commit a felony.

The bond for each alleged participant is set at $200,000.

The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office is also searching for other possible victims. They ask that anyone with information contact them immediately.
