Northern California forecast and snow totals: Drier and warmer days ahead
EVEN A NATURE WALK. AND THE WEATHER IS NOT GOING TO BE TOO BAD FOR IT, RIGHT? AS WE’RE MAKING THOSE PLANS, LET’S CHECK INTO OUR WEATHER LIVECOPTER3 SEND IN THIS SHOT OF THE CLOUD COVER OVER SACRAMENTO COUNTY. THIS WAS AROUND 430 THIS AFTERNOON, AND MARK, AT THAT POINT THINGS WERE KIND OF WINDING DOWN HERE. YEAH, WE SAW SHOWERS AND A COUPLE OF THUNDERSTORMS ON THE COAST RANGE DURING THE DAY TODAY, BUT BY THE TIME THE SUN WENT DOWN, EVERYTHING STARTED TO CLEAR OUT. NOW WE DO HAVE MAINLY CLEAR SKIES IN THE AREA. THAT’S THE WAY IT LOOKS IN STOCKTON RIGHT NOW WHERE WE HAVE CLEAR SKIES, LIGHT WINDS. HAD SOME SHOWERS EARLIER BUT TEMPERATURES THROUGHOUT THE AREA, WELL, THEY’RE PRETTY COOL. WE’RE CURRENTLY IN THE MID 40S, ALTHOUGH MODESTO ALREADY DOWN TO 42. IN A LAKE TAHOE WE’RE DOWN TO 24 DEGREES. MOST VALLEY SPOTS ARE GOING TO GET DOWN TO THAT RANGE OF ABOUT 35 TO 38, SO WE’RE NOT CONCERNED ABOUT HAVING FROST IN THE VALLEY. THAT’S BIG FOR AGRICULTURE IN THE VALLEY. BUT IN THE FOOTHILLS, ELEVATIONS BETWEEN 1000 502,500FT, WHERE THINGS ARE BLOOMING, THAT MAY BE AN ISSUE BY EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. AS YOU CAN SEE, EVERYTHING IS REALLY DRIED UP IN THE AREA. YOU JUST WATCH HOW THE SNOW SHOWERS HAVE DECREASED INTO THOSE SNOW SHOWERS, DECREASING INTO STATE 80 IS BACK FLOWING AGAIN. WE HAD CHAIN CONTROLS UP UNTIL ABOUT 45 MINUTES AGO, BUT THAT’S THE WAY IT LOOKS RIGHT NOW AT KINGVALE. AND AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE’S STILL SOME SNOW ON THE SIDES OF THE PAVEMENT. BUT THESE CARS ARE GOING BY AT THE SPEED LIMIT, IF NOT A LITTLE BIT FASTER. THAT WEATHER SYSTEM IS NOW BEGINNING TO MOVE ON OUT, SO THAT MEANS AN END TO THE PRECIPITATION THAT WE HAVE BEEN HAVING. AND WITH CLEAR SKIES BEHIND IT, TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOL. THIS IS THE WAY TOMORROW IS GOING TO GO. WE’LL HAVE MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES IN THE MORNING BY NOONTIME, A COUPLE OF CLOUDS BEGIN TO POP UP AND WE’LL SEE A FEW MORE CLOUDS AS WE GET CLOSE TO SUNSET. BUT AGAIN, YOU CAN SEE THAT TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE A DRY DAY. HERE’S THE WAY IT WILL GO IN THE VALLEY. WE’LL HAVE MORE SUN IN THE MORNING, A FEW CLOUDS IN THE AFTERNOON, COLD IN THE MORNING. BY NOONTIME WE’RE INTO THE LOW 50S THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. UPPER 50S AND LOW 60S. AND WHILE THAT’S WARMER THAN IT WAS TODAY, TEMPERATURES ARE STILL GOING TO BE BELOW AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. AVERAGE FOR THE VALLEY IS LOW. 70S IN THE FOOTHILLS, 30S IN THE MORNING WITH MANY AREAS AROUND SIX 7:00 DOWN AROUND 32 TO 35. BUT BY NOONTIME AROUND 15. WE STAY IN THE MID 50S ALONG HIGHWAY 49. IN THE AFTERNOON. AND FOR THE SIERRA HERE TOO, WE’LL HAVE A FEW CLOUDS FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT TOMORROW IS A DRY DAY. NO ISSUES TRAVELING THROUGH THE SIERRA, BUT PLENTY COLD AROUND TAHOE AND TRUCKEE WITH TEMPERATURES STAYING IN THE 30S. SO YEAH, THE COLD AIR IS LINGERING. I’LL SHOW YO
