Two inmates killed, five others injured in ADOC van wreck

An Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) van was involved in a single-vehicle crash on April 10, 2024 that killed two inmates and injured five others.

According to a release from ADOC, the inmates were returning to the Alex City Community Based Facility after work when the wreck happened on Elder Road in Dadeville.

Willie Crayton died at the scene, Bruce Clements was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.

Jake Jones was taken to the hospital, while Thomas Bass, Heath Garrett, Shawn Wasden, and Richard Jackson were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
