Erling Haaland incredible miss denies Manchester City a last-minute winner against Arsenal

The title race is as open as ever.

Manchester City and Arsenal made no damage to their respective Premier League title aspirations on Sunday following a lackluster, scoreless draw between the two at the Etihad.

The Citizens, eager to avenge their 1-0 away loss against the Gunners earlier in the campaign, came into Matchday 28 looking to keep the three points at home and therefore level Liverpool in points at the top of the table.

However, despite seeing both managers line up arguably their best-possible starting XIs, the much anticipated clash between the two giants ended with both clubs only placing a combined three shots on target, signing off the only 0-0 draw in the Premier League since Jan. 30th.

The away side had perhaps the most prominent chances of the match in the early minutes of the first half, with a loose ball from a corner kick miraculously ending in City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega’s arms after a soft shot from Gabriel Magalhães.

Gabriel Jesus, ex Manchester City player, also had the chance to score against his former club with an attempt at goal hitting the side of the net.

Erling Haaland incredible miss vs. Arsenal

The City striker was not himself tonight.

Despite not seeing the usual amount of chances front of goal for the Citizens, Erling Haaland passed up on an important opportunity to score the last-minute winner for the home side following an unorthodox attempt to strike the ball.

The 23-year-old received the ball at the edge of the keeper’s box following a nicely placed header from Joško Gvardiol, but failed to connect the ball in rare fashion. He even had the option to square it to Ruben Dias.

Very, very rare from the Norwegian.

This result sends current-leaders Liverpool into the heavily-disputed title race with a two-point lead (67) over second-placed Arsenal (65) and a three-point lead over third-placed Manchester City (64).
