Woman says she's ready to run 35th consecutive Boston Marathon
WE MENTIONED THOSE 300 PLUS NEW HAMPSHIRE RUNNERS. LET’S TALK ABOUT ONE OF THEM AND TALK ABOUT AN IMPRESSIVE STREAK OF RUNNING THE BOSTON MARATHON. NEW HAMPSHIRE’S LINDA PARISH WILL RUN HER 35TH BOSTON IN A ROW THIS YEAR, THE THIRD LONGEST ACTIVE STREAK AMONG WOMEN, BEHIND RUNNERS FROM CALIFORNIA AND TEXAS. THIS WAS THE FIRST ONE I EVER RECEIVED IN 1990, AND THEN THIS WAS KIND OF A SPECIAL MEDAL THAT THEY GAVE OUT FOR THE 100TH RUNNING. AND PARISH LIVES AND TRAINS NEAR THE KANCAMAGUS HIGHWAY IN ALBANY VERY HILLY COUNTRY. SHE STARTED RUNNING BOSTON IN 1990 AND HAS NOT STOPPED. SHE SAYS. IT’S ALMOST BECOME LIKE A HABIT INGRAINED IN HER LIFE. TWICE SHE HAS PLACED IN THE TOP THREE IN HER AGE GROUP AND AT 71 YEARS, YOUNG PARISH IS THE SECOND OLDEST FEMALE FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE IN THE BOSTON MARATHON. THIS YEAR, I FEEL LIKE I CAN DO IT, SO I SHOULD DO IT, BUT IT JUST IS SOMETHING THAT IS PART OF YOUR LIFE, REALLY. AND, UM, THE TRAINING IS KIND OF LIKE HAVING A PART TIME JOB, BUT IT REALLY, UM, JUST KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED TO, TO GO EVERY YEAR. AND THE, THE APPLICATION PROCESS STARTS AND. YEAH, SURE, I’LL DO IT AGAIN. OKAY. LINDA SAYS SHE ISN’T TRYING TO GET THE STREAK TO ANY PARTICULAR NUMBER, JUST THAT SHE WILL KEEP RUNNING THE BOSTON MARATHON AS LONG AS SHE IS HEALTHY ENOUG

A New Hampshire woman will run her 35th consecutive Boston Marathon on Monday.Linda Parrish's streak is the third-longest active streak among women, behind runners from California and Texas.Parrish lives and trains near the Kancamagus Highway in Albany. She started running Boston in 1990 and hasn't stopped, saying it has become almost like a habit, ingrained in her life.She has placed twice in the top three in her age group. At 71 years old, Parrish is the second-oldest woman from New Hampshire in the Boston Marathon this year."I feel like I can do it, so I should do it," she said. "It just is something that is part of your life, really. The training is kind of like having a part-time job, but it really just keeps you motivated to go every year. The application process starts, and sure, I'll do it again."Parrish said she isn't trying to get the streak to any particular number. She just plans to keep running the Boston Marathon as long as she is healthy enough to run.
