The burn is expected to be finished in one day, but people in the area may see some small amounts of smoke from the area.

The end of White Top Mountain Road will be closed during the burn for the safety of the public and the crews on the scene.

The Forest Service stated in a media advisory that the burn will improve wildlife habitats by making open areas of woods and grasslands. Brush and hardwoods have been encroaching in the area, which the burn aims to rectify.
