A court case wherein a Locust Grove man is accused of soliciting sexual acts from a minor family member through text messages has been postponed for the second time in Cherokee County District Court.

A felony charge of soliciting sexual conduct/communication with a minor by use of technology was filed against Robert Chad McIntyre, 32, on Oct. 26, after authorities discovered he allegedly texted a minor and asked her for oral sex.

According to the probable cause affidavit, McIntyre allegedly asked the child to “relieve” him and suggested he would do the same for her. He added that if she was not willing to perform the act, she could use her hand, and that he wouldn’t touch her.

After being confronted by an adult family member, the defendant allegedly admitted to sending the text messages. It was also reported that McIntyre has “psychosis” and was taken to Tulsa for treatment.

The defendant reportedly turned himself into authorities and received a $50,000 bond.

According to reports, authorities also discovered that in 2016, McIntyre received a deferred five-year Department of Corrections sentence in Craig County for seduction of a minor. He was first charged with lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child and forcible sodomy of a 12-year-old. However, he reportedly pleaded out and the charges were amended.

During his initial appearance Nov. 21, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. McIntyre was then scheduled to appear in court Feb. 7 and April 3 but both hearings were continued.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. June 5 with Associate District Judge Joshua King presiding. McIntyre is represented by a court-appointed attorney, while Assistant District Attorney John Bennett is listed as representing the state.
