19-year-old killed in house party shooting in Spartanburg, South Carolina, officials say
The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office along with Spartanburg Police Department are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old.
The coroner says the shooting happened Sunday morning, around 2 a.m. on Michael Street in Spartanburg.
According to Spartanburg police, the caller told authorities that a group of people were at a house party when someone started shooting inside.
Police say a man was shot in the face by another man who is unknown at this time.
Spartanburg police say officers and EMS arrived at the scene shortly after the call was made but were unable to save the victim's life. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
SCCO has identified the 19-year-old victim as Waco Jermaine Crate Jr., of Gaffney.
According to the coroner, an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
