Kristaps Porzingis sends chilling warning to NBA after Knicks loss

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics fell to the New York Knicks on Thursday (April 11). Joe Mazzulla’s team has been navigating a difficult stretch of basketball, where they’ve had nothing to play for and have been facing teams still fighting for seeding and potential postseason qualification. As such, the Celtics have produced some uncharacteristic performances.

When speaking to the media following the game, Kristaps Porzingis remained confident that Boston could quickly snap back to its dominant ways once the playoffs begin. He made sure to fire off a warning to the rest of the NBA, too, noting how the Celtics ‘will show up’ when the games begin to matter.

“It stings to have this loss, but maybe we need this before heading into the postseason with a killer mentality,” Porzingis said. This is not the team our fans love. That wasn’t on display. You best believe we’ll show up when we have to. We know what the goal is and make no mistake about it.”

The Celtics have two games remaining in the regular season. They will face the Charlotte Hornets on Friday (April 12) on the second night of a back-to-back and will wrap their season up against the Washington Wizards on Sunday (April 14).

With the postseason nearing, Boston will begin ramping up its production level. It has been coasting for almost two weeks, which has ensured its health, but it may have hindered its ability to generate some momentum heading into the opening round.
