First Look at ‘Alien: Romulus’ Xenomorph Popcorn Bucket

We’ve known for a couple of days now that in August we could be watching Alien: Romulus with a promotional Xenomorph popcorn bucket strapped to our arms, but thanks to The Garfield Movie News Twitter account, we’ve now got our first glimpse at the upcoming mini-Xenomorph!

There’s currently no information on price point or exclusivity to region or cinema chain. Thanks to MudButt for the link.

    Saw some odd other suggestions on google of an egg as a overmorph as a popcorn bucket/box

    There was another idea but for a drink cup that had a face hugger on its back and the straw was meant to be like it's Proboscis that feeds the embryo into the host.

    Rather gross 🤮

    I think this is really cool  :laugh:

    Everything's so damn serious these days, it's kinda nice to imagine people running around the cinema with an Alien head pretending they are aliens.

I know some folk here are seeing the Covenant head due to colouring, but I think looking at the side it's definitely inspired by the Alien 3 runner head (in fact I'd go and say its shape compares nicely to that tweet Fede Alvarez shared before he was announced as working on Romulus, where he put of a photo of the (rather battered)prop for the runners head and asked fans for help in identifying which movie it was from. :-D

    It's the Covenant design or closely based upon it. Note the prominent ribbed pipe running across most of the side of the head positioned above an equally prominent bone-shaped design element. It's the Giger meets flayed man/skeleton Covenant look, completely different to the big 'B' small 'm' biomechanical look of Alien3;

    I wonder if the dome is supposed to be rippled or if that is just the lights playing on it? The bottom jaw seems much wider too, almost like a beard.

    Not looking to bring down the mood by AVP-posting, but...

    Couldn't help myself but to think of this, seeing how it slides onto the user's arm. :laugh:

    Anyways, this is cute. No idea if my theater chain is going to get these (the Dune: Part Two one was unfortunately an AMC exclusive, but my main chain is Showcase), but if I can get one I intend to.

    They've been doing them the last few years at most of the major theater chains, at least here in the States. Some of them are surprisingly cool. They had one from THE BATMAN that looked like a replica of the cowl. I also picked up a rather large ECTO-1 light up bucket from GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE that scaled up nicely with some of the figures I own. A little custom paint job and it looks rather impressive on display. Yeah, this is a thing now.
    My ideal popcorn would be simply a regular, hard plastic, washable bucket with an original art graphic printed around the sides. Like they could have an original Alien comic art by Tristan Jones. That would be cool. These things however look tacky and cumbersome imo.

    The way this one is designed you can wield it like Lex's Xeno shield from AVP.
