Curtis Padgett murder trial concludes, awaiting judge's verdict in Linn County court

Closing arguments were made on Monday in the Curtis Padgett murder trial in Linn County.

Padgett was arrested last year, accused in the May 2007 murder of Dennis First at Hawthorne Hills apartments.

Padgett opted for a bench trial by waiving his right to a jury trial so a judge will make the final call on a verdict.

The prosecution says that the evidence shows Padgett is the killer, but his defense says it's all circumstantial.

The case is now with the judge, but there was no word yet on Monday as to how long the verdict will take to come back.
