Jimmy Fallon Brutally Mocks Donald Trump

Late-night host Jimmy Fallon has mocked Donald Trump after the former president held a rally in Wisconsin.

At Tuesday's rally, Trump called for head-to-head debates with President Joe Biden, placing an empty lectern on the stage that read "Anytime, anywhere, anyplace" to represent where Biden could stand.

"This is for Joe Biden. I am trying to get him to debate. Trying to get Crooked Joe to debate. Anytime, anyplace," Trump said, referring to the empty podium. "We'll do it any way you want, Joe, so that we can discuss in a friendly manner the real problems of our country of which there are many, instead of trying to have corrupt prosecutors fight your battles for you. That's no good. Let's go have a good, solid, friendly debate."

The following night, Fallon took to his show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to make fun of the former president, calling him unemployed.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Trump and Fallon for comment Thursday.

"Last night, Trump held a rally in Wisconsin, and to taunt President Biden for not committing to a debate, Trump had an empty podium on the stage that said, 'Anytime, anywhere, anyplace,'" he said.

"Trump said he'll debate anytime, anywhere, anyplace. Biden was like, 'Tell me you're unemployed without telling me you're unemployed.'"

Fallon followed this with an impressive impression of Trump when he said: "My schedule is wide open, I could do..."

Then, returning to his normal voice, the television host added: "At first, his campaign staff was laughing, but after Trump debated the podium for 30 minutes, they're like, 'Oh, boy, it might be time for another cognitive test.' Meanwhile, Trump is so broke, he sold the podium for $5,000."

These comments are in reference to people questioning Trump's cognitive ability since choosing to run for president again. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that a number of mental health professionals, who have also been critical of Trump, wrote statements claiming he was suffering from symptoms of dementia, while Biden—who has faced intense scrutiny about his age and mental acuity—was showing normal signs of aging.

Previously, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign told Newsweek that the former president had "aced" a cognitive test twice and was "willing to take a third test if Joe Biden sits in the same room and takes it at the same time."

Fallon's jokes also referred to the fact that, on Monday, Trump posted a $175 million bond to ensure that New York Attorney General Letitia James didn't seize any of his assets or bank accounts.

This is because he was appealing New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron's ruling against him in February after he was accused of inflating his net worth and the value of his properties to obtain better loan and insurance terms. Trump has denied all accusations.

During the rally on Tuesday, Trump also attacked Biden's policies on illegal immigration, saying they will cause Social Security and Medicare to "collapse".

The former president took aim at Biden's record on the southern border. "One of the most important issues in this race is how Biden's border invasion is going to obliterate Medicare and Social Security for American seniors," he said to a packed hall of supporters ahead of the Wisconsin presidential primary, which he won with almost 80 percent of the vote.

"What he's doing by allowing 15 million, 20 million people this year, [is] destroying your Social Security, he's destroying your Medicare, and many thing else. He's destroying your way of life."

Trump did not cite any official source while making his comments, and Newsweek has contacted Trump's campaign team via email outside normal working hours for clarification. Newsweek has also contacted the Biden campaign by email for comment.

The former president is the presumptive Republican nominee in the 2024 presidential elections, having last month won enough delegates to secure the nomination and because all of his rivals have dropped out of the race.
