While things have legally been settled as it relates to Tiffany Haddish’s latest legal issues involving DUIs, the “Girls Trip” star is steal dealing with some form of an aftermath.

In a recent interview on the “The Coversation with Amanda de Cadenet” podcast, Haddish opened up about her sobriety journey following her controversial Thanksgiving 2023 DUI arrest.

As previously reported by The Root, the “Night School” star was arrested in the wee hours on Black Friday morning in Nov. 2023, in Los Angeles after having previously performed at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood earlier that evening for the club’s 43rd annual free community Thanksgiving feast.

Around 5:45 a.m. PT, someone alerted Beverly Hills Police Department that there was a person stopped in the middle of Beverly Drive, with the driver reportedly “slumped over the wheel” while the car was still running. When police showed up, they found Haddish and she was subsequently taken to jail without incident for suspicion of driving under the influence. No one was injured in the incident.

As a result, the “Like a Boss” star pleaded no contest to reckless driving and took a plea deal which resulted in her getting the two misdemeanor charges dropped altogether. Her charges were reduced down to “wet reckless,” which means Haddish’s license won’t be suspended like it would have been had she actually been officially charged with a DUI.

In a statement to People, Haddish’s attorney said at the time: “Ms. Haddish has agreed to a simple vehicle code violation (not driving under the influence, which has been dismissed) and looks forward to this being behind her.”

Now, in this latest intervew, Haddish shared how she’s been taking charge of her health and getting a grip on her relationship with alcohol, which she describes as not her “not that hard.”

“It’s not that hard because it wasn’t really like my main thing anyway,” Haddish explained. “You know what I found out my main thing is? Meat, chicken, beef… and candy.”

Later, when asked if she considered herself sober, Haddish said: “I consider myself being obedient to the law. It’s court mandated. Two years, I’ve been waiting for my hearing in Georgia, and what happened in LA triggered Georgia.”

The “Nobody’s Fool” star also touched on her relationship with smoking weed, explaining that she only did so to help with her endometriosis diagnosis. However, now she’s embarked on a more raw vegan regimen as a replacement.

Additionally, a source close to Haddish told Page Six that the comedian was “serious about her sobriety” and “very into her health right now. She’s going through her changes and is doing amazing.”
