Did you ever wanted to run away and join the circus? Your Weekender friends wanted to become circus ringmasters. Mainly, because we liked wearing top hats and shouting orders. Which reminds us: the 72nd Abu Bekr Shrine Circus will have eight performances between Wednesday and Sunday at the Tyson Events Center, 401 Gordon Drive.

Acclaimed violinist Sarah Chang is returning for a Sioux City Symphony Orchestra concert, 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Orpheum Theatre, 528 Pierce St. Considered one of the world’s foremost violinists, Chang will play Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor.
3 Honoring a rock ‘n roller!
The life of Pete Goede, the late singer of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame band the Establishment, will be honored during the 10th annual Rockin’ for a Cure ALS Benefits Concert, beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Anthem. The all-star concert is a benefit with proceeds going toward ALS research.

We remember hearing old tapes of the “Fibber McGee & Molly” radio show when we were kids. Were they funny? Probably, but we may need a reminder. Thankfully, old-time radio fan Ralph Swain will be recreating a live stage show reinterpretation of a “Fibber McGee & Molly” episode at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Betty Strong Encounter Center.
