IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - On Wednesday night fans filled Carver-Hawkeye Arena one final time to recognize and celebrate the 2023-2024 Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball team.

During the ceremony, Iowa Athletic Director Beth Goetz announced they will retire Caitlin Clark's number, signifying no player would ever wear the #22 again. Clark is only the third Iowa women's basketball player to have her jersey retired.

During her four years in Iowa City, Caitlin Clark rewrote the college basketball record books, becoming the all-time Division One leading scorer. She has won two National Player of the Year Awards and led Iowa to their first national championship game in team history in 2023 - something she would do again in 2024.

Clark will be entering the WNBA Draft after forgoing her Covid year of eligibility for next season. She is expected to be taken number one overall by the Indiana Fever on Monday night.
