Fatal motorcycle crash kills man in Campbell County

It's been a dangerous week out on the roads for motorcyclists in the Commonwealth.

Virginia State Police said five people were killed this week including a deadly motorcycle crash in Campbell County.

State police are investigating that one right now; it happened Tuesday, April 9 on Campbell Highway.

The victim's family tells ABC 13 the victim is Paul Henderson, however, VSP has not confirmed a name.

Investigators said the victim was riding a 2024 Kawasaki heading south when it went off the road near Pleasant Hill Road, hitting a guardrail.

Henderson died at the scene.

The four other motorcyclists killed on Virginia roadways were one in Alexandria and three in Henrico County.

To keep everyone safe, Virginia State Police are offering the “Ride 2 Save Lives” motorcycle self-assessment courses across the Commonwealth.

The “Ride 2 Save Lives” self-assessment courses allow current riders the opportunity to learn and practice rider safety, how to handle hazards, special situations, interstate highways, curve negotiation, and much more.

The courses are conducted by Virginia State Police Motors Troopers in a safe and controlled environment.

There are currently two courses scheduled for Saturday, May 11. Spots still remain available for the one taking place at the Salem Red Sox Stadium (1004 Texas Street Salem, Va. 24153).

Space is limited and advanced registration is required.

All participants must have a valid operator’s license with a Class ‘M’ endorsement, appropriate riding attire, and helmet and eye protection. Motorcycles must be street-legal and helmets must be USDOT approved to participate in this program.
