Storage expert shares easy £3.99 hack that instantly cuts down on clutter in your home – and they’re great for kids toys

SPRING cleaning is well underway and one of the biggest challenges households face is getting rid of clutter.
Keeping clutter under control can seem like a monumental task on its own, especially in rooms that get used the most or for those with young families.

Storage expert Emma Knight from London storage company Urban Locker says that "decluttering is a slow and steady process that should be tackled in bite-sized chunks”.
“However, some hacks can help cut down on clutter in an instant.”
She shared her top tips which include: “One of my favourite ways to quickly get rid of clutter is by using mesh laundry bags.
“These bags are big enough to store a wide variety of items, and they are cheaper than other storage solutions.
“You can get them for £3.99 online and you can put them in other storage boxes or drawers to keep them out of sight."
Mesh bags are great for storing kids toys - especially those that don’t have a designated space in the house.
She added: “Once your children are done playing, they can put the toys back into the bags to be stored away."
"I'd advise getting different-sized mesh bags as some of your children's toys are going to be bigger than others.

“Mesh bags are great for organising Lego pieces, toy dinosaurs, musical instruments and pretty much anything else you can think of."
Whilst they aren't the most aesthetic storage solution, Emma said "you can hide them in other storage spaces in your home".
“If you don't have cupboards or drawers you can keep these bags in woven baskets that you can purchase from places such as Dunelm or H&M for less than £10, and they look great in most homes," Emma added.
As for other areas of the home, the bathroom is one of the most used rooms and can look dirty when it's cluttered.

Thankfully, the bathroom is really easy to declutter when you know how.
Emma explained: "The bathroom above all else needs to be functional, so work out what you need to use every day and keep those items on your counterspace.
"Next, work out the items you use every few days and put these into your mesh bags.
“Try to keep like-for-like items together, this way you know where all of your goods are located.
"For any other items that you don't use every week, either get rid of them or find another room to store them in.
“The space in your bathroom is probably limited, so you don't want to take it up with items you never use."
The kitchen is another room in the home that is heavily used, and you can use mesh bags to cut down on that clutter and also keep your home organised.
The expert said: "If you have a junk drawer in your kitchen or you have too many cooking utensils then these mesh bags can keep your drawers more organised so you can fit more in them.

“Being in the kitchen you may end up getting these mesh bags dirty, but don't worry as they are machine washable if you get the right ones.”
As for the bedroom, mesh bags can be used to keep items such as your socks, t-shirts and underwear together, not only does this make keeping your items organised easier but allows you to fit more in your drawers.
