Baton Rouge cracks down on downtown street parking
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - City officials are cracking down on-street parking in downtown Baton Rouge.
Mayor-President Sharon West Broome’s office announced that starting on Monday, April 29, enforcement for street parking in the downtown area will be stepped up to ensure visitors have convenient parking when going to downtown establishments during business hours.
A spokesman with the mayor’s office said the Baton Rouge Police Department will issue parking tickets with fines starting at $10.
According to officials, street parking is a maximum of 2 hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Anyone needing to park for longer than two hours during these times should use one of the many surface lots or parking garages downtown or park for free under the interstates on the perimeter of downtown.
Officials said street parking costs $0.25 every 15 minutes and can be paid several ways, including the Flowbird USA app, kiosks on every block, and signs with QR codes and texting options
