Baton Rouge police report: Man killed at Tigerland bar involved in fights with suspect
New details have been released in the death of a New Orleans man who died last week following a fight at a Tigerland bar in Baton Rouge.
Arrest documents obtained by BRProud.com show that Devin Repath, 26, and the suspect Matthew Marsiglia, 21, were involved in several fights at Fred's Bar and Grill on Bob Pettit Blvd on March 23.
According to the report, two groups of men were seen on surveillance speaking to each other when Repath was seen punching a person in the head.
The report says the person who was punched was restrained by other men in the group.
Later, Baton Rouge police said Repath was seen backing out of the bar while speaking with Marsiglia.
According to police, Repath tried to punch Marsiglia, but he was able to dodge it. That is when arrest documents say Marsiglia pushed Repath, who fell and hit his head on the pavement.
Marsiglia was taken into custody and booked for manslaughter.
BRPD says Repath was taken to a local hospital after being hit and knocked unconscious. He was pronounced dead the following morning.
Repath's autopsy showed he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
The 26-year-old was from the New Orleans Metro area and lived in Avondale, according to family members.
