BASEBALL

Max Deroche struck out eight across five innings and Peter Brooks hit a two-run home run as Braintree blanked Newton North, 10-0 in a Bay State Conference game.

Owen Kennedy struck out 15 in a complete game one-hitter, and Joey Dacosta (RBI single), Sam Light (RBI single) and John McDonald (two-RBI double) supplied the scoring for Hanover in a 4-0 shutout of Patriot League foe Plymouth South.

Gavin Desley struck out nine over six scoreless innings to earn his first career win as Dennis-Yarmouth defeated Sturgis, 6-1, in a Cape and Islands league matchup.

Will Trach fired a complete game two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts, and Will Holloway (two doubles, three RBI), Dyllon Pratt (double, triple, two RBI, run) and Nate Galanis (two hits, RBI, run) paced the offense for Shawsheen (2-1) in a 6-0 Commonwealth Athletic Conference win over Essex Tech.

Gio Martello allowed one hit and struck out 14 in a complete game effort and added a pair of hits at the plate to lead North Attleboro to a 7-1 victory over Hockomock League opponent Mansfield.

BOYS LACROSSE

Joe McCarthy (goal, 13/18 faceoffs), Oliver Rice (four goals, assist), Nolan Petrucelli (two goals), Jake McGuirk (goal, two assists), Teddy Glynn (goal) Max Pantilla (goal, four assists) scored for Norwell in a 10-5 win over Abington in South Shore League action.

Jake Vana netted a hat trick and dished an assist, while Cam McCarthy (two goals, assist) and Oliver Rosselli (two goals) notched multiple tallies also as St. John’s Prep (2-0) defeated Catholic Memorial 14-9 in a Catholic Conference clash.

Luke Wile (four goals) and Will Harrington (two goals, assist) set the tone offensively for Ipswich in a 12-11 Cape Ann League win over Pentucket.

GIRLS LACROSSE

In Atlantic Coast action, Sienna Reeves (6 goals), Julia Kipperman (5 goals), and Coral Punch (4 goals) led Nauset to a 18-4 victory over Dennis-Yarmouth.

Halle Greenleaf (four goals, assist), Allie Wile (three goals, three assists), and Lyla Greenleaf (two goals, two assists) led Ipswich to a 12-6 win over Pentucket, in a Cape Ann League game. … Ava Vautour made her 500th career save, and Evie Bernard (6 goals, 4 draw controls), Maisie Leland (3 goals, assist), Avery Nistl (2 goals, 2 draw controls), Grace Glidden (2 goals, 4 draw controls) had impressive offensive performances for Hamilton-Wenham in a 16-3 win over Pentucket.

Lexi Davis finished with four goals while Danielle Cox and Holly Panttila added three goals apiece as Norwell defeated Abington, 16-2 in South Shore action.

In a nonleague matchup, Amari Mills had eight saves and Ciara Hendricks (five goals, two assists), Sophia Morin (four goals, three assists), Ari Andrade (three goals, four assists), Sky Hickey (two goals, one assist) helped lead Mashpee over Bourne, 14-5.

Meera Raskin (six goals, two assists), Maddy Lubov (five goals, three assists), Phoebe Alto (two goals), and Rowan Luber (two goals) scored for Ursuline Academy in a Catholic Conference league win over Malden Catholic, 18-13.

 

SOFTBALL

In a Cape Ann contest, 8th grader Viola Fazio finished with a double, triple, four RBI and a pair of stolen bases to lead Hamilton-Wenham to a 19-1 win over Rockport.

In a nonleague matchup, Mackenzie Yirrell tossed a complete game one-hitter and struck out eleven to lead Methuen past Lowell Catholic, 10-0.

Maggie Schlossberg went the distance with 11 strikeouts, and Bella Abrams (two hits, two RBI), Maddie Blette (two hits, three RBI) and Liz McNaught (two RBI) drove in multiple runs for East Bridgewater in a 9-2 South Shore League victory over Norwell. … Olivia Gallo hit an inside-the-park home run, and Delaney Robinson, Abigail Dube and Emerson Kearns drove in two runs each as Middleboro cruised to a 16-1 win over Sandwich in five innings.

Tessa Francis collected 12 strikeouts over six innings and allowed just two hits, and Ruby Calienes threw a scoreless, hitless inning of relief for Marblehead in a 6-1 Northeastern Conference win over Saugus.

Deon Li registered 29 assists and six aces for Braintree during a 3-0 Bay State Conference win over Walpole.
