Snow College adjunct professor to conduct photo shoot for upcoming tai chi book
John C. Neubauer, Snow College’s esteemed adjunct professor of tai chi, is set to host a special event to promote his upcoming book, “The How-to of Tai Chi Yoga for All Ages,” on Tuesday, April 23. The photo shoot will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Commons area of the Greenwood Student Center at Snow College.
This event serves a dual purpose, aiming not only to capture images for Neubauer’s forthcoming book but also to raise awareness about Snow College’s fall tai chi class enrollment and its new tai chi teacher certification course. Snow College is poised to become one of only a handful of major colleges offering a tai chi teacher certification program.
Neubauer, aged 76, is the inventor of tai chi yoga, a practice he pioneered in 1977. His journey with Tai Chi Yoga took a significant turn last year when he published his first book, “The Power of Tai Chi Yoga,” following his struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Neubauer’s battle with Parkinson’s drew national attention when he was selected as one of 16 contestants for the business TV show “America’s Real Deal” in March 2022. However, during the show’s red-carpet interviews in October 2022, his Parkinson’s symptoms emerged, leading him to withdraw from the competition out of ethical concerns.
Dr. Steven Warren, Neubauer’s physician in Salt Lake City, attributes his remarkable recovery from Parkinson’s to his dedicated practice of tai chi yoga over nearly five decades. According to Dr. Warren, Neubauer’s commitment to tai chi yoga likely delayed the onset of Parkinson’s by two to three decades.
Neubauer’s inspiring story and his pioneering work in tai chi yoga have garnered widespread attention, leading to numerous television and blog interviews, including one with WMBD TV in Peoria, Illinois, in September 2023.
For those interested in learning more about Neubauer’s work or attending the event, he can be contacted at (801) 712-4569 or via email at johncharlesneubauer@gmail.com. Additionally, highlights of his TV interviews can be viewed on his website www.taichiyoga.com under the “As Seen on TV” banner.
The photo shoot event promises to be an enlightening experience, celebrating Neubauer’s contributions to the world of tai chi and offering insights into the transformative power of tai chi yoga for individuals of all ages.
