Prairie Arts Chorale to celebrate Earth with spring concert series in west central Minnesota

The spring concert series of the Prairie Arts Chorale will run for two weekends in late April, and will total five performances in as many cities.

MONTEVIDEO — Singers of the Prairie Arts Chorale will be exploring the beauty of Earth and nature with music from legends such as the Beatles, Carole King and Harry Belafonte.

The choir, directed by Brandon Hurley, will also be singing selections from Creedence Clearwater Revival along with other choral and pop classics.

The choir's spring concert series, "Earth, Wind and Choir," will be visiting regional churches and performing arts venues for two weekends in April.

The tour starts at 7:30 p.m. April 19 at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo, followed by a show at 7:30 p.m. April 20 at the Estebo Performing Arts Center in Redwood Falls and at 4 p.m. April 21 at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer . The second weekend has shows scheduled at 7:30 p.m. April 26 at First Lutheran Church in Marshall and finishes up with a performance at 7:30 p.m. April 27 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church.

Advance tickets are $12 for adults or $15 at the door. Children under the age of 18 are free. Tickets are available for purchase at the GuidePoint Pharmacy in Redwood Falls, Sletlen Music in Montevideo, Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer, the Marshall Hy-Vee and from Chorale members.

The Prairie Arts Chorale is an auditioned regional choir made up of adults from across southwest and west central Minnesota. The choir's mission is to promote choral music, along with the arts in general, in the region.

The choir rehearses weekly in the spring and fall and performs in venues around the area. Those interested can find more information on the choir's website and Facebook page.

Performances are made possible through grants from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council via an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature.
