WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — School will be out in just a short time and many kids are already thinking about those fun summer camps that are offered.

The last day of school is just one month away, and Ohio County Schools will once again be offering a variety of summer camps and classes for no cost at all.

The school board will offer an elementary and middle school program where kids can continue practicing skills like reading, math, and much more. A STEAM camp will also be available for elementary and middle school kids to work on different interactive projects relating to things like robotics and multimedia.

For the high school level students, programs will be offered that will allow them to catch up on any missed credits or get a jump start on upcoming credits.

The innovation coordinator for Ohio County schools shares why it is important to offer these programs for students and families.

”It’s really easy in the summer to, you know, get out of the habit of, you know, reading or practicing your skills. And so, I think it’s really important that we don’t lose those skills as we move through three months. And so, we’re really excited to just to be able to help students retain skills by coming to our camps and practicing those.”

Jojo Shay – Innovation Coordinator, Ohio County Schools

All the camps offered are free and include breakfast, lunch, and transportation for all students.

To register for any of the camps you can visit the Ohio County Schools website.
