A 29-year-old man died and a 23-year-old man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after their vehicles crashed at the Interstate 680 and Fort Street intersection in Omaha Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old, Samuel Rohl, was driving a 2018 Honda Accord when he turned left onto Fort Street from the I-680 northbound off-ramp around 11:40 p.m., according to the Omaha Police Department. As Rohl turned, an eastbound Nissan Versa driven by Jordan Phipps, crashed into Rohl’s Accord.
A third vehicle, a white Hyundai Elantra that was driven by Scott Jackson, was struck by debris from the collision.
Omaha Fire Department medics pronounced Rohl dead at the scene. Phipps was taken to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Police said alcohol use contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
