Lincoln corrections facility staff member has serious injuries after being assaulted by inmate
A staff member at a Lincoln corrections facility is seriously injured after being assaulted by an inmate.
The assault happened at the Reception and Treatment Center on April 4, when an inmate punched a staff member in the head multiple times, according to officials.
The initial medical examination indicated the staff member was not seriously injured, the Nebraska Department of Corrections said.
The staff member was later diagnosed with a concussion, officials said.
The incident is under investigation. Findings will be shared with the Lancaster County attorney to determine any criminal prosecution, according to the Department of Corrections.
A staff member at the Nebraska State Penitentiary was also injured in an assault last week.
The staff member was treated at the hospital for a broken nose and eye socket after being punched and hit repeatedly.
