Several Prospects Enter 2024 NBA Draft Friday

Players like Matas Buzelis, Donovan Clingan and Kyle Filipowski opted to enter the NBA Draft Friday.

A myriad of potential NBA Draft prospects chose to enter the 2024 NBA Draft on Friday, opting to forego various other options in hopes to

The day started with G League forward Matas Buzelis, who saw an up-and-down season with the now-extinct Ignite. It was an easy decision for Buzelis, who was left without a team, but likely cemented himself as a top-10 pick regardless.

In 26 games in the G League, Buzelis averaged 14.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

Next was Duke forward Kyle Filipowski, who opted to test the waters last year but ultimately chose to return and help the Blue Devils for one more season.

While “Flip” still never found the rhythm most thought he was capable of, he did improve in several areas in year two, averaging 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assist, 1.1 steals and 1.5 blocks per game in helping the team to an Elite Eight appearance.

Filipowski is most likely to be a fringe lottery pick, and could break the top-14 if any team values his shooting at near-7-foot tall.

Donovan Clingan —UConn’s mammoth 7-foot-2 center who helped lead the Huskies to back-to-back titles with stingy defense, mobility and gargantuan offense around the ring — also entered Friday. In 35 games, Clingan averaged 13.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 64% overall. There's little doubt the two-time champion will be selected in the lottery, offering so much despite the game moving away from traditional-style bigs.

Most recently was Alex Sarr of Perth in the NBL, who at 7-foot-1 will likely hear his name called within the first few, if not first. Sarr averaged 9.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in just around 20 minutes in the NBL.

A decent chunk of expected prospects have now entered their name for 2024, with more set to do so in the coming weeks.
