fast food robberies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis police are looking for two suspects in connection to a string of crimes committed Sunday morning including six robberies.

Most of the robberies targeted fast food restaurants and happened within a two-hour window.

According to police reports, the crime spree started with a carjacking in Parkway Village and ended when an armed robbery turned into a shootout in Whitehaven.

Investigators said the two men carjacked a man outside his home on Randy Lane as he was getting ready to head into work. They stole a Nissan Altima, which was used to commit the rest of the crimes.

After the carjacking, the suspects headed to four McDonald’s and a Burger King across the southern half of the city. The suspects went through the drive-throughs, hopped out of the stolen car, pulled out a gun, pried open the window and stole or attempted to steal from the registers.

After that, the suspects went to the Circle K on Brooks, where witnesses told FOX13 they attempted to get into the locked store.

Investigators said one of the suspects went up to a man in the parking lot, gun in hand, to demand his keys and wallet.

That victim told MPD he handed over his keys, but a white pickup truck pulled into the parking lot as the robbery was happening and opened fire on the suspects.

Investigators say one suspect ran away and the other took off in the stolen Altima but crashed into a tree across the street, then ditched the car and ran away.

Memphis police have not identified the truck that opened fire on the suspects. Neither of the suspects have been identified or arrested.
