In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first Mennonite immigrants to the Henderson area in 1874, Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park will be featuring an evening for guests to observe the Anabaptist experience on Sunday, April 21 starting at 6:30 p.m. Living the Anabaptist Story will be an event where history will come alive, making this a Sunday evening at the park no one will forget. Attendees will meet Martin Luther, Menno Simons and others while viewing reenactments of the early Anabaptist movement along with observing a confession of faith baptism and experiencing the apprehension and treatment of Anabaptists. A social of coffee and cookies will follow. Donations appreciated and golf carts will be available.

In celebration of Small Business Week the York Area Chamber of Commerce will hand out a booklet highlighting the Down Town Revitalization projects that have been taking place since 2016 and on Thursday, May 2 residents are encouraged to take a self-guided tour of the properties. The YCDC and Chamber are then partnering with the Young Professionals to host Econ by the Pint at Kilgore Memorial Library in York. Nebraska Council on Economic Education speakers will host a lighthearted “econ comedy hour” for an engaging take on economics, helping us make better decisions, financial and otherwise. Nebraska Craft Brewers Guild will provide insights into the economic impact of craft breweries in Nebraska. A fun evening guaranteed! This 21+ event is open to the public. Doors open at 5 p.m. and activities begin at 5:30 p.m. Prizes awarded. Admission is $5 for members of Young Professionals, YCDC or the Chamber at the door. Admission is $10 for non-members at the door.
