With clear skies and good weather Wednesday, crews working at the site of the Key Bridge collapse were able to make more progress in the recovery operation. FOX45 was able to go out to the site to get an up-close look at the wreckage.

"We’ve got a long road ahead of us, but I’m proud to say with the remarkable work of this team, we keep moving," Governor Wes Moore said during a press conference.

Crews have begun lifting containers off the Dali, in order to gain access to part of the bridge. Governor Moore said they need to move about 178 containers, and so far they have moved 34.

"That work is complicated and that work is dangerous," Moore said. "Just one empty container on the vessel can have a weight of over one and a half tons."

In addition to the containers, large pieces of the steel bridge have been lifted out of the water.

"The biggest concern is getting the port open and we are making progress every day," said Justin Hansen with the U.S. Coast Guard.

The weather has also been a challenge at times. With rain and heavy winds, crews have had to pause work clearing the wreckage due to safety concerns.
