MERKEL, Texas (BCH Sports) – The Merkel Badgers have a new head football coach and athletic director, and now Snyder needs a new head football coach and athletic director.
Wes Wood is making the move from Class 4A Snyder to Class 3A Merkel to lead the Badgers football program and athletic department.
Wood spent five seasons as the head coach in Snyder and led them to the playoffs in three seasons.
He compiled a 21-32 record in Snyder, and Wood takes over a program in Merkel that’s been to the playoffs in just four of the last eleven seasons.
The search for Wood’s replacement in Snyder is underway.
