When the weather outside gets brutal and the only solution seems to be taking shelter indoors, life in Phoenix can become a little mundane.

The intense, dry heat may be one reason some label the city's neutral landscape and beige buildings as "boring." However, exploring Phoenix may be key to understanding what makes the city unique.

BetArizona.com, an Arizona sports betting coverage website, surveyed 600 U.S. residents on Reddit, asking users "What is the most boring major U.S. city?" Users could only choose cities within the top 50 most populous cities in the United States.

Phoenix is the fifth most populated city in the nation and broke into BetArizona's top three. Here's how it ranked among the other nine according to the survey.
