Like baseball and hot dogs? Here’s a job for you: Wiener Connoisseur

If you enjoy baseball, hot dogs and traveling there might be a job for you. A company is seeking a “wiener connoisseur.”

CLEVELAND, Ohio – If you love baseball, hot dogs and traveling, and would like the title “wiener connoisseur” on your business card, there might be a job for you.

BetUS has created a position with one main responsibility: Travel to each Major League Baseball stadium and evaluate the hot dogs.

The WC will record length, diameter, weight and price.

The person chosen will be paid $2,500 to travel to no more than three Major League stadiums and receive a $500 gift card to the MLB gift shop and one-year subscription to MLB.TV. Applications close Thursday, April 18.

But check your excitement before packing mustard and a map: The majority of the job requires out-of-pocket travel costs which, when coupled with tickets and expenses, would add to several thousand dollars. (For full rules and registration details, go to betus.com.)

Still, it’s not uncommon for diehard fans to map out treks over the summer, matching team schedules with the most efficient routes. Note: The connoisseur will be traveling on their own and not in the famed wienermobile, though that would be apropos.

For instance, here’s a six-day, six-game stretch:

A fan could start in Toronto and catch the Chicago White Sox-Blue Jays 3:07 p.m. game on Monday, May 20. On Tuesday, May 21, they can drive five hours to Pittsburgh to take in the San Francisco-Pirates game at 6:40 p.m. Roughly two hours away is Cleveland, where the Guardians host the New York Mets at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 22. Then on Thursday, May 23, drive three hours to see the Detroit Tigers host the Blue Jays at 6:40 p.m. They would have enough time to head to Chicago when the White Sox host the Baltimore Orioles at 7:40 p.m. Friday, May 24. And at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, May 25, the Cardinals host the Chicago Cubs in St. Louis.

All it takes is time, money and planning.

“With Major League Baseball in full swing, we heard from our fans that they were curious about which MLB stadium offers the biggest hot dogs in the league. … So we decided to hire a passionate Wiener Connoisseur that is well-versed in the world of wieners and baseball to finally answer the question: who has the biggest wiener in Major League Baseball?” Andres Vargas, head content editor of BetUS, said in a statement to cleveland.com.
