Game one of the three-game city baseball rivalry went to the west-siders Tuesday night.
Sam Callow dazzled on the mound, striking out nine and allowing only three hits and walking one in six inning. Behind Callow, Indian Trail defeated Tremper 11-0 in a Southeast Conference game on Tuesday at Andy Smith Field in Kenosha.
“Callow threw a good game for ITHSA,” Tremper coach John Matera said. “He’s a very solid pitcher and was mixing today and hitting spots well.”
The Hawks are 6-1 and 4-0 in the Southeast Conference, a half game behind SEC leader Oak Creek (5-0). It was the first loss of the season for Tremper (4-1, 3-1).
Nate Urban pitched the final inning for Indian Trail, fanning two Trojans with no hits.
At the plate, Conner Foster led the way with three hits and two RBIs, including a triple. Seth Koci was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Adrian Moyao added two hits, and Brad Filippis smashed a double.
Rory Dutton, Tremper’s starting pitcher, was tagged for five earned runs and five hits in 32/3 innings.
“Rory had some very good early innings, and ran into a jam in the fourth,” Matera said.
Dutton led Tremper with two hits for the game, while Ethan Bauerschmidt and Chuck Preble each added one hit.
Game two of the three-game series was Wednesday. Results were too late for the Thursday print edition of the Kenosha News.
The series wraps up Friday afternoon.
Softball
TREMPER 17, WILMOT 1: The host Trojans (3-4-1) erupted for a 12-run fourth inning and won in five innings Tuesday night in Kenosha.
Tremper freshman pitcher Hannah Holmes got her first win with a two-hit performance, including one earned run and two strikeouts and only one walk in 4-1/3 innings.
“We finally had hard hit extra-base hits, which is great to see going into a big game on Thursday,” Tremper coach Emma Dummer said. “Holmes got her first win as a freshman. It was a good all-around team win.”
Finley Koziol, Vivian Meier and Ava DeBartolo all went 2-for-3, all with a double and then a single. All three had RBIs and runs scored.
Maritza Martinez and Hailey Rocha both went 2-4 with two singles, two runs and an RBI.
Camille Sporer had a bases-clearing triple.
Tremper travels to Bradford (7-0) Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
INDIAN TRAIL 7, TREMPER 2: On Monday, the Hawks improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Southeast Conference after beating a crosstown rival at Andersen Park.
Claire Giese had a big two-run double to give the Hawks the lead in the third and followed it up with a solo home run (2) in the fifth.
The Hawks broke it open with Morgan Calhoun’s three-run triple in the sixth. Alona Boydston drove her in to cap the Hawks’ scoring.
Emma Lighthizer went four solid innings for the win, and Madi Mismash made her first appearance of the year and pitched the final three for the save.
“We are getting some timely hits up and down the order,” Indian Trail head coach Matthew Bradley said. “It was a good solid win against a good team, so we are happy with that. We need to get focused on the defensive side when we play Bradford tomorrow (Wednesday) and cut down on the errors.”
The Hawks host Franklin Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
SHORELAND LUTHERAN 7, DOMINICAN 3: The Pacers tallied six runs in the first three innings and held on for a rain-soaked win Tuesday night in Whitefish Bay.
The Pacers (3-2, 3-0 Metro Classic Conference) were led offensively by Alyssa Pavlovich, who had two hits, three runs and two RBIs.
Erin Borchardt pitched a complete game for Shoreland, scattering five hits with two strikeouts. Borchardt added two hits and two RBIs at the plate.
Dominican (0-3, 0-2 MCC) travels to Somers Thursday at 4:30 p.m., as the teams will meet again.
ST. JOSEPH/CHRISTIAN LIFE 14, THOMAS MORE 0: Ashley Plapp pitched a gem Tuesday night in Milwaukee in MCC action.
She fired a five-inning two-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and Payton Hasselbrink went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs to lead the Lancer offense.
“Our defense played well and we had timely hitting,” St. Joseph/Christian Life head coach Doug Townsend said.
WESTOSHA CENTRAL 4, WATERFORD 0: The Falcons survived a pitcher’s duel by scoring four times in the last two innings to defeat the Wolverines Tuesday in Paddock Lake.
Meghan Lampos earned the complete game victory, going all seven innings and allowing five hits while striking out 13. Jaydin Kiser took the loss for the Wolverines.
Each team had chances early but couldn’t get the key hit.
The Falcons broke the scoreless deadlock in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two-outs, Lila McNeill tripled to left field, and Maya Gagliardi singled her home to make it 1-0.
Westosha Central took that lead into its half of the sixth. Alex McKinney led off with a home run to left field. After an Allie Loucas singles, Emma Smith banged another homer to left.
That was all Lampos needed to finish with the complete game win.
“That was a really good game that could have gone either way,” Westosha co-head coach Tom Lampe said. “We did a good job of staying in the moment and took advantage of our opportunities. Meg was great in the circle and Lila, Maya, Alex and Emma had clutch hits at the key times. It was a good team win.”
With the win the Falcons improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the SLC.
They return to action on Thursday when they travel to Union Grove for a rematch with the Broncos.
Boys tennis
WESTOSHA CENTRAL 7, WILMOT 0: The Falcons were in complete control Tuesday in a Southern Lakes Conference dual meet at Paddock Lake.
The singles competitors were not touched, as the Falcons’ four players won by a combined score of 48-0.
Christos Dovas (No. 1 singles), Jordan Oppenneer (No. 2 singles), Paxton Ferruzzi (No. 3) and Karn Toor (No. 4) all picked up victories. In doubles, it was more of the same, as the teams of Brett Hanke/Camden Oppenneer (No. 1 doubles), Owen Sweeney/Owen Goergen (No. 2) and Andy Cerna/Michael Webers (No. 3) all won 6-0, 6-0.
ST. JOSEPH 5, TREMPER 2: The Lancers swept the four singles flights to prevail in a nonconference dual meet Monday.
Jacob Krumrie won at No. 1 singles over Tremper’s Chris Donkor, 7-5, 6-2, and St. Joseph No. 3 singles Rocky Santarelli beat Tremper’s Josh Zilisch, 6-3, 7-5, but both Trevor Reindl (No. 2 singles) and Steven Boris (No. 4) won 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, the Tremper No. 1 doubles team of Dongze Price/Enze won 6-1, 6-2.
Tremper also won by default at No. 3 doubles. At 2 doubles, William Hutson and Matthew Keeter of St. Joseph beat Tremper’s Hunter Binninger and Mason Whyte 6-1, 6-4.
Girls soccer
WESTOSHA CENTRAL 5, WATERFORD 1: The Falcons took a 2-0 halftime lead and cruised in Southern Lakes action Tuesday night.
Bella Diaz got the scoring going early in the 4th minute for Central, as she was assisted by Ellie Boncher. Talia DeBartelo followed with a goal from a Diaz assist.
In the second half, Ani Minic got going.
Minic scored in the 45th and 64th minutes to ice the game, and Diaz added a goal with a Kira Petit assist in the 68th minute.
“We played well in the wet conditions,” Central coach Vlatko Minic said. “We showed patience in our attack and were well-balanced in our defense, allowing us to dominate possession. All in all a solid team performance that all of the girls should be proud of.”
