MILLER COUNTY, Ark. (KSLA) - Arkansas State Police is investigating a wreck involving two members of law enforcement.

The incident happened at around 10:30 a.m. Monday (April 15) at East and Division streets.

Officials say a Miller County sheriff’s deputy was on the way to assist a Texarkana, Ark. police officer. The officer was at an intersection with their lights on. The deputy was driving an unmarked vehicle.

“It was real fast. I was out here doing these tires and, like I said, they collided real fast,” said Zach Geurnsey, who saw the wreck.

At this time, it’s unclear how the incident happened. After the initial collision, the vehicles hit a third car.

The two law enforcement officers and the driver of the third car were taken to the hospital.

“I seen the one cop coming down with his lights and siren on, and then another one was coming this way and they collided. I don’t know how fast they were going, but they were going fast,” Geurnsey said.

Arkansas State Police is investigating the crash.

“At this point, it is currently under investigation. We’ve got additional evidence from the vehicles and witness statements we obtain before we complete the report,” said Lt. Jamie Gravier with ASP.

Officials say the two law enforcement officers were responding to another deputy’s call for assistance after someone crashed a motorcycle during a police chase.

“Call for service, put the emergency lights and siren on, and at times having to drive faster than the posted speed limit, but still drive at, do regard to make sure we get there safely,” Lt. Gravier said.

Lt. Gravier says once the investigation is complete, a file will be sent to the prosecuting attorney for review.
