Sexyy Red and Drake have spent a lot of time together over the last few months, which isn’t strange considering how often the Toronto superstar has worked with new acts throughout his career. Joe Budden, however, believes that there’s monetary gain to be had from being close to the St. Louis artist, with Sexyy now sharing her thoughts on that theory.

“Respectfully, it sound like a ni**a that could rap at that level that gets paid off of everybody’s deal tryna rap. That’s what it sound like to me,” Budden said on a recent episode of his eponymous podcast. His co-host, Queenzflip, asked if this was confirmed, and Joe retorted with “Oh, you think he just like being around Sexyy Red that much?” His co-host, Officially Ice, agreed with him, and Budden also claimed this was the case for other rappers, though he did not name anyone in particular.

As the clip made its rounds on social media, it landed in the “Get It Sexyy!” artist’s X timeline. Her response? “They so dumb.”

Drake also seemingly responded to Joe Budden with an Instagram story this past weekend. He posted a photo of Budden with the caption “What’s the vibes NY?!?” It wasn’t a particularly bad photo, but it was enough for people to think he met the theory with a humorous counter.

Drake and Sexyy Red first linked up during the former’s first leg of the It’s All A Blur tour. Red went on to perform at several shows on the tour and later appeared on “Rich Baby Daddy” alongside SZA from the 6 God’s October 2023 album For All The Dogs. They released the visual for the record on Valentine’s Day. The 6 God also appeared in the young star’s “Get It Sexyy” music video recently.

Drake has been the subject of many theories over the last two weeks. Future and Metro Boomin released their collaborative album We Don’t Trust You, which hosted the track “Like That” featuring Kendrick Lamar. K. Dot dissed both Drake and J. Cole, denouncing the idea of there being a “Big 3” and saying “It’s just big me.”

Lamar also questioned the legitimacy of Drake and J. Cole’s friendship and mentioned their October collaboration “First Person Shooter” by name. His most clever bars utilized Drake’s latest album title, For All The Dogs, and referenced Stephen King’s 1983 horror novel Pet Sematary.

Future and Metro Boomin also seem to be at odds with the part-time crooner. In the opening title track, the Atlanta superstar raps “You a ni**a number one fan, dog/ Sneak dissin’, I don’t understand, dog/ Pillowtalkin’, actin’ like a fed, dog/ I don’t need another fake friend, dog/ Can’t be ’bout a h**, ’cause we sharin’, dog/ In your feelings, ni**a, why you playin’, dog?”

Fans believe that the What A Time To Be Alive duo had a falling out over a woman, and these lyrics were direct shots at the Canadian rapper. Drake responded to all of the commotion caused by the album during a show days after, claiming that no one could f**k with him and that he was “ten toes down.”
