Man shot after argument on CTA Red Line: CPD

CHICAGO — An argument overnight at a CTA Red Line stop ends with gunshots and a man in critical condition.

According to the police, a 24-year-old man was shot in the chest and police are still searching for the suspect.

Police say the victim and suspect were arguing around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night on the platform at the 95th Street station/ At one point the suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire.

There are multiple cameras at CTA stops but neither video nor still photos have been released.

The 24-year-old man was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition. Police have not said what may have started the argument between the two.

Overall violent crime on the CTA, according to police, continues to fall from some of its highest numbers during the pandemic.

The latest numbers from February show a 16% drop in CTA crime year over year.
